Buccaneers Re-Sign RFA RB Bobby Rainey

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Friday that restricted free agent RB Bobby Rainey has signed his tender.

The Bucs tendered Rainey at the original pick level, which means he’ll receive a one-year, $1.542 million contract from the team before becoming unrestricted free agent next year.

Rainey, 27, originally signed on with the Ravens as an undrafted free agent out of Western Kentucky back in 2012. He spent a little over a year with the team before he was claimed off of waivers by the Browns.

Tampa Bay later claimed him from Cleveland in 2013 before signing him to a one-year deal in March of last year.

In 2014, Rainey appeared in 15 games for the Buccaneers and ran for 406 yards on 94 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 33 receptions for 315 yards receiving and two total touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 42 running back out of 57 qualifying players.
