Buccaneers Re-Signing S Chris Conte To A One-Year Deal

Roy Cummings, citing a league source, reports that the Buccaneers haveĀ agreed to terms on a new deal with S Chris Conte.

  • Cummings adds that Conte receives a one-year, $1.5 million contract from the Buccaneers.

Recent reports mentioned that the Buccaneers were still working on bringing Conte back, and a deal could be completed at some point in the near future, so this doesn’t come as a big surprise.

Conte reportedly drew interest from theĀ Saints, and Giants as well.

Conte, 27, is a former third-round pick of the Bears back in 2011. He played out his rookie contract with the Bears before signing a one-year deal with the Buccaneers last year.

In 2015, Conte appeared in 14 games for the Bears and recorded 80 tackles, two interceptions, two forced fumbles and six pass defenses. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 32 safety out of 88 qualifying players.
