Report: Giants Sign RB Peyton Hillis

Update:

Mike Garafolo reports that the Giants are signing RB Peyton Hillis on Wednesday.

Hillis was one of four running backs who were brought in for tryouts on Tuesday. Apparently, Hillis still has something left in the tank because he managed to beat out guys like Jeremy Wright, D.J. Ware and Ryan Torain.

There is actually a chance we could see him play this weekend as David Wilson is out and Brandon Jacobs deal is dealing with an injury of his own.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Giants have asked Peyton Hillis and Danny Ware to take physicals on Wednesday, which appears to be an indication that one or both of them could be signed.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Giants will bring in former Buccaneers RB Peyton Hillis for a workout on Tuesday.

The Giants will have to rely on Michael Cox and Brandon Jacobs against the Vikings on Monday. David Wilson is expected to miss another three weeks or so, but they could get Andre Brown back from his leg injury by then.

Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are releasing RB Peyton Hillis.

The release of Hillis comes as no surprise given that the 27-year-old running back has already been deactivated for a game this season, and is currently listed as the No.4 back on the Bucs depth chart. Hillis never recorded an official carry with the Bucs after having been surpassed by rookie Mike James in the preseason.

The hype following Hilli’s impressive 2010 season has worn off after failed attempts with the Browns, Chiefs and now the Buccaneers.

Tampa Bay promoted TE Danny Noble from their practice to take Hillis’ place.
