Buccaneers Researching HC Candidates, Dirk Koetter & Todd Monken Expected To Draw OC Interest

According to Jason La Canfora, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have begun gathering information on potential head coaches and are making contingency plans for a coaching search.

Leagues sources tell La Canfora that Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter is unlikely to be back in Tampa Bay next season.

However, La Canfora reports that Koetter and OC Todd Monken will be coveted by other teams looking for offensive coordinators in 2019.

The Buccaneers have changed quarterbacks multiple times this year, but is still one of the most productive offenses in the NFL, which is why both Koetter and Monken should garner interest in the coming months.

Last year, the Buccaneers nearly fired Koetter and it’s been clear all season that his job is in danger.

Koetter, 59, began his NFL coaching career as the Jaguars’ offensive coordinator back in 2007. After five years in Jacksonville, he was hired as the Falcons’ offensive coordinator and later joined Lovie Smith’s staff in the same role for the 2015 season.

The Buccaneers elected to move on from Smith after one season and made the decision to elevate Koetter to head coach.

During his two years as the Buccaneers’ head coach, Koetter has led the team to a record of 19-26(42.2 percent) and no playoff appearances.

We’ll have more regarding the Buccaneers as the news is available.
