Buccaneers Restructure TE Brandon Myers’ Contract

Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers have restructured the contract of TE Brandon Myers.

According to Auman, Myers will receive $500,000 up front while lowering his 2015 salary from $2.25 million to $1 million. In 2016, Myers will make a base salary of $1.75 million.

Myers, 29, signed a two-year, $4.25 million contract that included $2 million guaranteed with the Buccaneers last March.

He went on to appear in 14 games and catch 22 passes for 190 yards receiving and no touchdowns. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 53 tight end out of 64 qualifying players this past season.

Tampa Bay used a second-round selection on Austin Seferian-Jenkins, who figures to be the team’s No. 1 option at tight end next year, so it’s not all that surprising to see the Bucs rework Myers contract.
