Buccaneers Resume Contract Talks With WR Mike Williams

Scott Reynolds of the Pewter Report reports that negotiations between the Buccaneers and WR Mike Williams are expected to resume at some point in the near future. This is according to Williams’ agent Hadley Englehard.

The two sides were in the process of discussing a long-term extension a few months ago, but elected to table negotiations until after the draft. Back in February, Engelhard mentioned that they had “very productive meeting” during the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, so it’s not as though things ended on a contentious note.

A previous report indicated that Williams could be seeking a similar contract to the one signed by Stevie Johnson last year. Johnson received $36.25 million over the course of five-years. Williams is entering the final year of his rookie contract, so it makes for them to try to get a deal done before the start of the season.
