Buccaneers Rookie RB Charles Sims Expected To Miss 12-14 Weeks

The Buccaneers announced Friday that third-round pick RBĀ Charles Sims will undergo surgery on his right ankle and miss 12-14 weeks.

  • ESPN’s Adam Schefter mentions that the Sims could miss half of his rookie season and is a candidate to be placed on injured reserve with the designation to return.

This is horrible news for Sims and the Buccaneers as it appeared as though he was in position to secure a portion of the team’s carries this year.

Doug Martin figures to handle a sizable workload now that Sims will miss a large portion of the season, but backupsĀ Bobby Rainey and Mike James should figure in the mix as well.
