Buccaneers Rookie WR Mike Evans Out 2-3 Weeks With Groin Injury

Mike Garafolo of Fox Sports is reporting that Buccaneers rookie WR Mike Evans will miss the next 2-3 weeks with a groin strain he suffered during Sunday’s win over the Steelers.

  • Garafolo points out that the Bucs have their bye week coming up in three weeks.
  • Ian Rapoport has confirmed that Evans’ timetable is 2-3 weeks.

“Just a little tweak — it hurt, and I couldn’t run,” Evans said of his injury after Sunday’s game, via the Tampa Bay Times.

The Buccaneers got a solid performance from Louis Murphy, who just recently signed to a contract. Tampa Bay is likely to rely on Murphy and Robert Herron against the Saints next weekend.

On the season, Evans has caught 17 passes for 203 yards and a touchdown.
