Buccaneers Rumors: Michael Bennett, Michael Bush

Michael Bush

Ira Kaufman of the Tampa Tribune writes that Raiders RB Michael Bush could be an “intriguing” option for the Buccaneers

Tampa Bay has already said that they plan to spend more money in free agency this year and the running back position needs to be addressed. We’ve also heard Mike Tolbert‘s name get mentioned as a possibility for the team.

What’s interesting about these two speculative options is that, both of them are larger running backs that can be used in short-yardage situation but isn’t that what LeGarrette Blount should be used for? If he can’t catch passes out to the backfield and has a hard time picking up short-yardage, than what does he do exactly?

Tolbert would be a great addition to almost any team but whoever they choose to bring in will ultimately determine what role Blount will have next season.

Michael Bennett

The St. Petersburg Times reports that Tampa Bay Buccaneers will likely place a second-round tender DE Michael Bennett

Bennett will be a restricted-free agent in the coming weeks, hence why the Buc’s will be placing a tender on him, but he’s most likely the team’s #1 priority when it comes to their own players.

Last year Bennett actually started over rookie Da’Quan Bowers and his versatility makes him even more important to young defense. The report mentions that Bennett could get a salary of $1.9 million for the 2012.
