Buccaneers Sign DL Channing Ward To Practice Squad, Release DE Sterling Bailey

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Thursday that they’ve signed DL Channing Ward to their practice squad and released DE Sterling Bailey from the unit.

The Buccaneers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. LB Riley Bullough
  2. RB Russell Hansbrough
  3. FB Austin Johnson (Exception)
  4. S Isaiah Johnson
  5. OL Mike Liedtke
  6. T Marquis Lucas (Injured)
  7. WR Freddie Martino (Exception)
  8. CB Jonathan Moxey
  9. LB Eric Nzeocha (International)
  10. WR Bobo Wilson
  11. OT Justin Murray
  12. DL Channing Ward

Ward, 24, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Ole Miss back in May. He managed to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason but was, unfortunately, cut loose back in November.

The Buccaneers signed him to their practice squad soon after. He was eventually called up to their active roster in December but Tampa Bay cut loose him coming out of the preseason.

In 2016, Ward has appeared in four games for the Buccaneers and recorded five tackles and no sacks.
