Buccaneers Sign First-Round TE O.J. Howard

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have signed first-round TE O.J. Howard to a four-year rookie contract, according to Jenna Laine.

According to OverTheCap.com, Howard will receive a four-year contract worth $11,094,856, which includes a signing bonus of $6,208,984. The contract also has a fifth-year option for the team to consider in 2020.

Howard, 22, was selected with the No. 19 overall pick by the Buccaneers in this year’s NFL draft. There was talk that Howard could be drafted as high as No. 6 overall to the Jets, but he surprisingly fell into the second half of round one.

The Buccaneers got an incredible value pick in landing Howard where they were sitting in the first round as well another large receiving option for Jameis Winston to target in the coming years.

During four-year college career, Howard caught 114 passes for 1,726 yards receiving and seven touchdowns over the course of 46 games.
