The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of G R.J. Mattes on Wednesday.
- The Buccaneers also placed DE James Ruffin on waivers to make room for Mattes.
Mattes signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State. He was later suspended for four games and has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Ruffin signed on with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Northern Iowa back in 2010. He later signed with the Bengals and ended up on their practice squad, but he was waived in September of 2011. Tampa Bay actually brought him back a few weeks ago before cutting him today.
