Buccaneers Sign K Brandon Bogotay, Waive C Ben Gottschalk

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced the signing of K Brandon Bogotay as well as the release of C Ben Gottschalk.

Gottschalk, 23, signed on with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of SMU back in May of last year. He was unable to make Kansas City’s 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but was later added to their practice squad.

The Buccaneers signed him to a contract in early April, so his time in Tampa Bay was short lived.

Bogotay, 26, originally signed on with the Browns as an undrated free agent out of Georgia back in 2013. He was unfortunately unable to make the Browns’ 53-man roster coming out of the preseason.

Bogotay participated in the Buccaneers’ rookie mini-camp on a tryout basis this offseason.

The Buccaneers currently have Patrick Murray and Michael Koenen on their roster so there appears to be a good amount of competition for their kicking job.
