Buccaneers Sign P Bryan Anger To Five-Year, $17M Extension

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they have signed P Bryan Anger to a five-year contract extension.

  • According to Rick Stroud, Anger’s five-year extension will be worth $17 million, making him one of the five highest-paid punters in the league.

We brought Bryan here this past offseason believing he had the ability to be one of the best punters in the NFL and he performed as such in 2016,” said General Manager Jason Licht, via the Buccaneers’ official site. “We are always happy to reward our own players and thrilled to be able to keep Bryan with the Buccaneers for years to come.”

Anger will now be under contract with the Buccaneers through the 2021 season.

Anger, 28, is a former third-round pick of the Jaguars back in 2012 and was notably selected before Seahawks QB Russell Wilson. He played out his rookie contract and signed a one-year deal with Tampa Bay as an unrestricted free agent back in March.

Entering the final week of the regular season, Anger has appeared in 15 games for the Buccaneers and recorded 65 punts for 2,858 yards and five touchbacks.
