Buccaneers Sign Veteran DT Tony McDaniel To A One-Year, $2.5M Deal

Pro Football Talk, citing a league source, reports that the Buccaneers have signed former Seahawks DT Tony McDaniel to a one-year contract worth up to $2.5 million.

  • Rand Getlin mentions that this contract will actually give McDaniel the ability to make the same amount of money he was previously set to make with the Seahawks.

McDaniel, 30, had one year remaining on his two-year, $5.75 million contract when the Seahawks cut him loose in what appeared to be cap-driven decision.

Since he became available, there was talk that the Raiders could end up pursuing McDaniel to bolster their interior defensive line help, but it appears as though the Bucs came in with the best offer.

In 2014, McDaniel appeared in all 16 games for the Seahawks and recorded 31 tackles, a pass defense and a safety.
