Buccaneers Sign WR Evan Spencer To Practice Squad, Promote RB Peyton Barber

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that they signed WR Evan Spencer to their practice squad and promoted rookie RB Peyton Barber to their active roster.

The Buccaneers’ practice squad now consists of:

  1. WR Evan Spencer
  2. RB Russell Hansbrough
  3. OL Josh Allen
  4. OL Ben Gottschalk
  5. WR Freddie Martino
  6. LB Josh Keyes
  7. CB Javien Elliott
  8. Isaiah Johnson
  9. LB Micah Awe
  10. WR Jeremy Butler

Spencer, 23, was taken in the sixth round of last year’s draft by the Redskins. He was unfortunately unable to make the 53-man roster coming out of the preseason during his rookie year, but later signed on to the Buccaneers’ practice squad a few weeks into the season.

Tampa Bay elected to cut Spencer loose last week as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

In 2015, Spencer was active for one game, but did not record a single statistic.

Barber, 22, wound up signing a three-year, $1.62 million contract with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Auburn back in May. He was waived last week as the Bucs cut their roster down, but was quickly signed to their practice squad.

During his one year at Auburn, Barber ran for 1,017 yards on 238 carries (4.27 YPC) to go along with 13 touchdowns.
