Buccaneers Signing TE D.J. Williams & Promoting TE Cameron Brate

Aaron Wilson of the Nation Football Post reports that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing TE D.J. Williams to a contract on Tuesday.

  • WR Marcus Thigpen has been placed waived on waivers to make room for the new additions.
  • The Buccaneers are promoting TE Cameron Brate to their active roster.
  • Tampa Bay signed LB Denicos Allen, FB Evan Rodriguez and TE Taylor Sloat to their practice squad.
  • TE Ted Bolser and CB Quinton Pointer have been released from their practice squad.

Williams, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers back in 2011. The Packers placed him on waivers at the start of the 2013 season.

Williams later caught on with the Patriots, but was once again waived before the start of the 2014 regular season.

Last year, Williams appeared in nine games for New England, but didn’t record a single reception.
