Buccaneers Signing Veteran CB Robert McClain

The Buccaneers have agreed to terms with veteran CB Robert McClain on a one-year contract, according to Greg Auman.

There’s a connection between the Bucs and McClain as he played three seasons for DC Mike Smith while they were with the Falcons.

McClain, 28, is a former seventh-round pick of the Panthers back in 2010. He lasted just over a year in Carolina before he was waived at the start of the 2011 season.

AAfter a brief stint with the JJaguars McClain signed on with the Falcons and spent three years in Atlanta.

He had another brief stint with the Patriots before returning to the Panthers in 2015. Unfortunately, Carolina waived him back in December and he was later claimed off of waivers by the Chargers.

In 2016, McClain has appeared in 14 games for the Panthers and recorded 39 tackles, a half sack, no interceptions and a pass defense. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 103 cornerback out of 111 qualifying players.
