Bucs Sign WR/KR Solomon Patton Off Cardinals’ Practice Squad, Waive TE D.J. Williams

Update:

Scott Smith reports that the Buccaneers have officially signed WR/KR Solomon Patton off of the Arizona Cardinals practice squad.

Williams, 26, is a former fifth-round pick of the Green Bay Packers back in 2011. The Packers placed him on waivers at the start of the 2013 season. He later caught on with the Patriots, but was once again waived before the start of the 2014 regular season.

The Buccaneers signed him to a contract close to a week ago.

Last year, Williams appeared in nine games for New England, but didn’t record a single reception.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are signing WR/KR Solomon Patton off of the Arizona Cardinals practice squad on Monday, according to his agent, per Roy Cummings.

Patton, 24, signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Florida back in May. He was unable to make the final 53-man roster coming out of the preseason, but he was later promoted off of the practice squad before Tampa Bay’s season opener.

However, he was once again waived as the Bucs signed WR/KR Trindon Holliday to a contract.

Over the course of six games, Patton has rushed for 19 yards on one carry and contributed 393 kick return yards to go along with 112 punt return yards.
