Buccaneers Starting Ryan Fitzpatrick In Week 9

On Monday, Buccaneers HC Dirk Koetter announced that they’re starting Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback in Week 9.

Koetter explained that they’re taking things week-to-week to at quarterback.

Jameis Winston heads back to the bench after throwing four interceptions against the Bengals on Sunday.

It will be interesting to see how this situation plays out, considering that Winston is owed $20.922 million next year. This is guaranteed only for injury, so if they plan on moving on from the former No. 1 overall pick, it’s probably not worth it to play and risk him getting injured.

There has been some speculation that the Buccaneers could make Winston available for trade before tomorrow’s deadline, but you have to wonder if any team would be interested in acquiring him at that salary.

Fitzpatrick, 35, is a former seventh-round pick of the Rams back in 2005. He’s played for several teams over the course of his 13-year NFL career including the Bengals, Bills, Titans, Texans and Jets before he signed on with the Buccaneers last year.

In 2018, Fitzpatrick had appeared in five games for the Buccaneers and completed 68.1 percent of his passes for 1,550 yards, 13 touchdowns and five interceptions. He has also rushed for 80 yards and touchdown.
