Buccaneers TE Kellen Winslow On The Chopping Block?

Pat Yasinskas of ESPN.com  writes that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers could consider releasing TE Kellen Winslow and adds that such a move wouldn’t count against their cap best of the unique contract that Winslow singed with Buc’s upon being traded.

Lets just point out that the Buc’s are one of the few teams that isn’t in need of extra cap space considering that they’re currently sitting with $68 million to spend.

The move instead would be based on Winslow’s declining production. Pro Football Focus ranked Winslow as the #48 best tight end last season and the year before that; he finished as their #31 player at the position. You could make the argument that no one on the team’s offense was going to look good on the stat sheets following their miserable 2011 season but Winslow declining production mixed with the fact that he’ll be 29 next month doesn’t bode well for his future in Tampa.

It will be interesting to see if anything becomes off the idea.
