Buccaneers Trade CB Aqib Talib To The Patriots

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that they have traded CB Aqib Talib and a 2013 seventh-round pick the Patriots in return for a 2013 fourth-round pick.

There’s no question that the Patriots could use some additional help at cornerback, as their secondary has been a real weak spot this season. Talib has had a number of off-the-field issues during his time in Tampa Bay, but he has flashed some serious talent at times.

He’s currently serving a four-game suspension for Adderall, but is supposed to be eligible to return on Monday. Pro Football Talk points out that Talib was suspended for four games, not four weeks, which could force him to miss Week 10’s game since the Patrots are currently on bye.

Albert Breer of NFL.com has since confirmed that Talib will miss Week 10’s game against the Bills, but will be eligible to report the next day.

Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 19 best cornerback. He’s owed $871,765 for the remainder of the season, per Brian McIntyre. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. We have him listed as the No. 23 best available player in our Top 50 Free Agents list.
