Buccaneers Waive DB Elijah Shumate From I.R. With Settlement

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived DB Elijah Shumate from their injured reserve list with an injury settlement on Saturday.

Shumate, 22, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in May. He was in the first year of his three-year, $1.62 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season when the Bucs waived him with an injury designation.

Shumate later cleared waivers and reverted to their injured reserve list.

During his college career, Shumate recorded 168 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
