Buccaneers Waive Veteran CB Tim Jennings, Activate RT Demar Dotson

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers officially waived CB Tim Jennings on Monday, according to the NFL Transactions release.

  • The Buccaneers also activated RT Demar Dotson from short-term injured reserve.

Jennings, 31, was somewhat surprisingly cut loose by the Bears at the start of the season, as they trimmed their roster down to 75 players. However, he later signed on with the Buccaneers.

This season, Jennings has appeared in six games and recorded 17 tackles to go along with one fumble recovery and a pass defense.

Dotson, 29, still has two years remaining on his four-year, $7.5 million contract that included $2 million guaranteed. He stands to make base salaries of $1.5 million and $1.75 million over the next two years.

Dotson was trying to secure a contract extension from the Buccaneers, but unfortunately sustained an injury during the preseason.

In 2014, Dotson appeared in all 16 games for the Buccaneers and was rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 28 offensive tackle out of 84 qualifying players. Being a starting offensive tackle, his $1.5 million base salary means that he is a highly underpaid player, so it’s easy to see why he is demanding a lucrative raise.
