The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced Monday that they’ve waived S Elijah Shumate with an injury designation.
Should Shumate clear waivers tomorrow, he would revert to the team’s injured reserve list.
This move creates a roster spot for DT Ishmaa’ily Kitchen, who was signed to a contract this morning.
Shumate, 22, wound up signing on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Notre Dame back in May. He’s in the first year of his three-year, $1.62 million rookie contract and set to make a base salary of $450,000 for the 2016 season.
During his college career, Shumate recorded 168 tackles, a sack, a fumble recovery, two interceptions and 10 pass defenses.
