Buccaneers Waiving RB Russell Hansbrough

Greg Auman of the Tampa Bay Times reports that the Buccaneers are placing RB Russell Hansbrough on Monday.

Should Hansbrough clear waivers on Tuesday, Auman expects him to be signed to the Bucs’ practice squad.

This could be an indication that RB Doug Martin is closer to returning from injury but we’ll obviously need to see how things go this week.

Hansbrough, 22, signed on with the Buccaneers as an undrafted free agent out of Missouri. He was one of the team’s final roster cuts before signing onto their practice squad.

Tampa Bay waived Hansbrough a few weeks ago before signing him to their practice squad and later getting called up to their active roster last week.

During his four-year college career, Hansbrough recorded 467 rushing attempts for 2,344 yards (5.0 YPC) and 15 rushing touchdowns. He also caught 30 receptions for 128  receiving yards (4.3 YPC).
