Bucs TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins Could Be Out 4-6 Weeks With Shoulder Injury

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Buccaneers second-year TE Austin Seferian-Jenkins suffered strained shoulder during Sunday’s win over the Saints and expected to sideline him 4-6 weeks.

  • Schefter adds that Seferian-Jenkins will still get a second opinion on his injured shoulder in the coming days.

On Tuesday, HC Lovie Smith said that Seferian Jenkins has a sore shoulder and his status for Week 3 was still unknown. However, it sounds like his injury was worse than Smith was letting on.

The Buccaneers have already signed TE Cameron Brate off of the Saints’ practice squad, so they’re clearly taking steps to bolster their depth at tight end.

Seferian-Jenkins, 22, is in the second year of his four-year, $5.254 million rookie contract and stands to make base salaries of $658,861 (2015), $822,721 (2016), and $1,061,582 (2017) over the remainder of the agreement.

This season, Seferian-Jenkins has caught seven passes for 139 yards receiving and two touchdowns for the Buccaneers.
