Bucs To Field Trade Offers For Vincent Jackson, Doug Martin & Dashon Goldson

Jason La Canfora is the latest to report that the Buccaneers are expected to field trade offers for some of their notable players during the offseason.

According to La Canfora, WR Vincent Jackson, RB Doug Martin and S Dashon Goldson are likely to be on the trade block once the season has concluded.

Jackson was the most popular name mentioned in trade rumors leading up to the deadline, but the Buccaneers elected to hold onto him after teams reportedly were unwilling to offer the type of compensation Tampa Bay was looking for.

La Canfora mentions that the Bucs wanted a second-round pick in return for Jackson a few weeks ago, but he believes their asking price could eventually come down for him. Martin reportedly could be had for a late-round pick.

As for Goldson, La Canfora doesn’t see Goldson back next year, even if they are unable to trade him, due to his contract.

Martin, 25, still has two years remaining on his four-year, $6,787,528 rookie contract with reasonable base salaries of $1,007,048 (2014) and $1,315,572 (2015) coming his way.

Jackson, 31, is in the third year of his  five-year, $55,555,555 contract that includes $26 million guaranteed. He’ll make base salaries of $10 million, $9,777,777, and $9,777,778 over the final three years of his contract.

Goldson, 30, signed a five-year, $41.25 million contract that included $22 million guaranteed with the Bucs back in March of last year.

Tampa Bay can free up $4 million by releasing him outright, according to OverTheCap.com’s calculator or they could create $7 million by making him a June 1 release.

Since the Buccaneers hired Jason Licht as their general manager and brought in Lovie Smith to their head coach, they have been working hard to turn their roster over and bring in players that fit their system. It’s becoming clear that we can expect 2015 to be another busy offseason for the Bucs.
