Bucs Unlikely To Make QB Change In Week 4 No Matter How Ryan Fitzpatrick Plays On Monday

According to Jason La Canfora, the Buccaneers are planning to start Ryan Fitzpatrick at quarterback in Week 4 no matter how he fares against the Steelers on Sunday.

La Canfora says that team officials have not met to make a formal decision on the matter, but Fitzpatrick’s spectacular performance to open the season has left an impression on the team and they expect to continue with him at least in the short term.

The Buccaneers will be on a short week after their Monday night matchup with the Steelers, so it wouldn’t be an opportune time to make a quarterback change. Beyond that, La Canfora says that a multitude of players have spoken out in favor of keeping Fitzpatrick in place as the starter.

A source tells La Canfora that once Jameis Winston returns from his three-game suspension, it will be a “week to week” proposition.

Fitzpatrick has appeared in two games for the Buccaneers and completed 78.7 percent of his passes for 819 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception. He has also rushed for 35 yards and touchdown. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 1 quarterback out of 32 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding the Buccaneers’ quarterback job as the news is available.
