C.J. Spiller said on the NFL Network Tuesday night that the Bills called and thanked him for his service in Buffalo.
“I hoped that I could return (to Buffalo),” Spiller said Tuesday on NFL Total Access. “Very few guys get to play their whole career at one team, but unfortunately that doesn’t happen in this business and I found out today it doesn’t happen in this business.”
Given that the Bills just acquired LeSean McCoy from the Eagles in a trade that will send LB Kiko Alonso to Philadelphia, it’s really not surprising that Buffalo reached to Spiller about his future with the team.
Spiller also addressed the idea of playing for the Eagles.
“I’m pretty sure that Chip (Kelly) has my agent’s phone number so I’m pretty sure we might have to make a call over there,” Spiller said. “…I’ve never been in that type of system before,” referring to the Eagles’ hyped offensive attack, “but I don’t think I’d have any problem adjusting to it.”
There has been a lot of buzz that Spiller could consider signing with the Jets, who have hired former Bills HC Chan Gailey as their new offensive coordinator.
Spiller, 27, finished out his five-year, $25,672,087 rookie contract with the Bills that included $11,854,169 guaranteed and is now in position to be an unrestricted free agent in the coming weeks.
In 2014, Spiller was limited to appearing in nine games and rushing for 300 yards on 78 carries (3.8 YPC) to go along with 19 receptions for 125 yards receiving and one touchdown.

Seems like Spiller was a disruptive force his entire time in Buffalo; a guy always running off at the mouth who’s play didn’t back up his negativity. He’s had some flashes of greatness but as divisive as he’s been, he’s reminds me of Terrell Owens…..Bottom line “buyer beware,” no matter where he lands he’ll likely start off excited about a new chance and after that shortly begin creating controversy. Given the Jets history for having dysfunction in the locker room and on the field, CJ would appear to be a natural fit there.
