Campbell Or Gradkowski

While it was surprising to see the Raiders sit Jason Campbell for Bruce Gradkowski in the second week of the season, it may actually be more surprising that the team is unwilling to name a starting quarterback.

Campbell was responsible for three turnovers against what is believed to be a porous defense in the St Louis Rams. Gradkowski was brought in and was able lead the team back and earn a tough win.

Now there are is some speculation that Campbell believes that Raiders quarterbacks coach Paul Hackett was lobbied by Gradkowski to give him a chance to get into the game. Whether this is the case or not, the team had to make a decision that was going to give them the best chance of winning the game.

Raiders  head coach Tom Cable should do his best to pick a direction and stick with it because this is the type of situation that can and will divide a locker room as well as the teams ability to win games. But then again this is the Raiders and they never seem to be short on drama.
