Cardinals Close To Re-signing Larry Fitzgerald?

Jim Trotter of Si.com writes that the Arizona Cardinals could get a deal done with Pro Bowl WR Larry Fitzgerald before the start of the 2011 season.

Fitzgerald mentioned that the two sides were “closer than we were last week,” and added that they’re “not too far away” from reaching an agreement.

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic writes that the Cardinals are sitting around $13.2 million under the cap which gives them a few options to consider.

It’s possible that re-signing Fitzgerald could give the team additional cap space. Fitzgerald’s cap figure for 2011 is $11.25 million. A new contract could lower that,” Somers explains. “The Cardinals also could choose to front load the contract to lighten the impact in the later years of the deal.”
