Cardinals Cut 21 Players, Down To 53

The Arizona Cardinals have announced that they have reduced their roster down to the required 53 players on Saturday.

The Cardinals have also placed TE Gerald Christian on the season-ending injured reserve after sustaining a knee injury during the preseason finale.

Shaughnessy, 28, was in the year of his final two-year, $4.4 million contract that included another $2.2 million is available through incentives. He was set to make a base salary of $1.45 million for the 2015 season.

Jason Fitzgerald mentions that the Cardinals already paid Shaughnessy a $500,000 bonus this offseason. Although, they’ll save $1.45 million in salary following this move.

In 2014, Shaughnessy was limited to appearing in just eight games for the Cardinals after he was placed on short-term injured reserve. He finished the year with 17 tackles.

  1. I guess Bruce knows what he is doing. I think he should’ve saved the draft pick and kept Phillip Sims. I would rather have Tebow than trading a 7th round pick for Barkley, Tebow is a winner and with the injury prone quarterbacks he has I would like to see him get a better deal. GO CARDINALS!
