Cardinals Exec. Terry McDonough Expected To Have Second Interview With 49ers Saturday

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic reports that Cardinals VP Terry McDonough is expected to have a follow-up interview with the 49ers for their GM vacancy this Saturday.

The meeting is likely to take place in Atlanta, according to Somers.

McDonough is one of two candidates who are still in the picture for the 49ers’ job with the other being Vikings assistant GM George Paton. Although, Paton has already scheduled another interview with the Colts, so there’s some question as to whether he’s still the favorite for the job.

San Francisco has ruled out the possibility of re-opening their GM search, depending on how things go in the follow-up interviews this week.

It’s worth mentioning that Kyle Shanahan, who is expected to hired as the team’s next head coach, will reportedly take part in the meetings. Some reports have said that control over the 53-man roster could go to Shanahan, which may explain why multiple candidates have dropped out of the running for the job.

We’ll have more regarding the 49ers’ GM search as the news is available.
