Cardinals Expected To Be In The Market For LT Help

Kyle Odegard of AzCardinals.com takes an in-depth look at the Cardinals offensive and some of their options this offseason.

The Cardinals offensive line was horrendous last season and while they still weren’t among the best units in the league this season, there were able to make some improvements, even with first-round pick Jonathan Cooper never playing a regular season snap.

GM Steve Keim previously mentioned that he expects to consider their options with regards to the left tackle position this offseason.

“The left tackle, you can’t create them,” Keim told Arizona Sports 620. “It’s tough. You have to do your due diligence and look in free agency and look in the draft and if the player doesn’t fall to you, you can’t force it. We’ll continue to try to add more depth and try to see if we can grow in that position.

Odegard specifically mentions that Chiefs LT Branden Albert could be an option for Arizona. Other notable free agent left tackles include: Eugene MonroeJared Veldheer, and Zach Strief

As for the draft, the Cardinals will have the No. 20 overall pick, which means they are likely to miss out on the top offensive tackle prospects like Texas A&M Jake Matthews, Michigan Taylor Lewan and Alabama Cyrus Kouandjio. Still, there guys like Auburn Greg Robinson, Tennessee Antonio Richardson and FSU Cameron Erving could be available to them.

  1. I don’t think they should go for a veteran. They need some body that’s young and that can protect Carson Palmer’s Blindside.

  2. Albert has too many miles and not enough motor- they should make a play for chris clarke from denver, done a great job for clady while hes been out, and when clady gets back he will be a hot commodity
