Cardinals Prepared To Start Drew Stanton At QB?

Update:

Cardinals’ new head coach Bruce Arians mentioned that he’s comfortable moving forward with Drew Stanton as his quarterback.

“I have all the confidence in the world with him being our starter,” Arians said, via the Associated Press.

There’s been a lot of speculation that Arizona could target one of the prospects in this year’s draft class and Chris Mortensen believes North Carolina State QB Mike Glennon could be their guy.

We’ll exhaust every opportunity in the draft, whoever else is available, but we are quite honestly comfortable with Drew Stanton,” said Arians.

Stanton has never been given a true shot at a starting job. He thought he was going to get an opportunity to compete with Mark Sanchez last year, but the Jets wound up trading for Tim Tebow and then shipping him off to Indianapolis to be Andrew Luck’s backup.

It’s hard to say if Stanton will be able to step in and produce for a Cardinals offense that has been brutal since Kurt Warner decided to call it career, but Arians sounds as though he believes Stanton can be a difference-maker for them.

Cardinals’ new head coach Bruce Arians told reporters on Wednesday that he expects to decide on the team’s starting quarterback early in the offseason, per Kent Somers.

Arians added that doesn’t expect to have a quarterback competition, despite the fact that the team is currently without a foundation quarterback.

This could be great news for Drew Stanton, who the team signed last week. Brian Hoyer figures to be in the running as well, but it’s doubtful that either John Skelton or Ryan Lindley will be able to push them for the starting job.

Chris Mortensen mentioned that he believes the Cardinals will target North Carolina State QB Mike Glennon in the draft. While he looks to be a good fit for Arians’ system, he may have a hard time beating out either Stanton or Hoyer for the job.

It’s just hard to get excited about the Cardinals’ quarterback options at this point in time.
