Cardinals First-Round Pick G Jonathan Cooper Officially A Hold Out

Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic confirms that Cardinals first-round pick G Jonathan Cooper is officially holding out from training camp.

Cooper, who has yet to sign his rookie contract, has officially made it known that “negotiation time” is over after failing to show up to the team’s first day of training camp on Friday. According to Somers, both sides are far apart from reaching an agreement stating “there is no middle ground” in said contract negotiations.

A four-year contract has been offered to Cooper that would pay him the highest amount allowed– $14.5 million plus a $10 million signing bonus. However, Cooper’s side has rejected the offer due to an offset that, in the event that the Cardinals decide to cut Cooper, would free them financially if picked by another team.

Along with Jets CB Dee Milliner and the Titans G Chance Warmack, Cooper is part of the three remaining first round picks yet to sign with their team.
