Cardinals Notes: Draft, Christian Kirk, Brooks Reed

Draft

  • Jay Glazer of The Athletic believes the Cardinals strategically leaked that they are interested in trading down from No. 1 overall to drum up interest from potential trade partners.
  • In the end, Glazer could see the Cardinals drafting Ohio State DE Nick Bosa with the first pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
  • Albert Breer isn’t buying the idea that the Cardinals could use the No. 1 overall pick on Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray a year after trading up in round one to get Josh Rosen
  • Breer does, however, mention that there was some concern over how Rosen’s rookie year went and not everyone in the Cardinals’ building was totally sold on him coming out of that.

Christian Kirk

Cardinals WR Christian Kirk (foot) says he expects to be 100 percent healthy by the end of February.

“I’m just being patient,” Kirk said, via AzCardinals. “Kind of matured a lot from this whole experience and taking my time, and not trying to feel rushed. Because there is no rush to get back. The goal is for me to be 100 percent when I step on the field in August. So, I’m just doing all the steps, doing all the things that I can to make sure I’m the best me and the best version of myself to help this team win next year.”

Brooks Reed

  • Adam Caplan reports that the Cardinals signed veteran DE Brooks Reed to a one-year contract worth $1.625 million that includes $250,000 fully guaranteed for the 2019 season.
