Free Agent RB Chris Johnson “Mulling” Offer From The Cardinals After Receiving Outside Interest

Update:

Jason La Canfora reports that free agent RB Chris Johnson is “mulling” his one-year contract offer from the Cardinals, and that he remains in a “holding pattern” due to the interest he has received from other teams.

Dianna Marie Russini of ESPN reports that the Cardinals are pursuing free agent RB Chris Johnson and have offered him a one-year contract.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians expressed some frustration with the team’s current group of running backs and added that they planned on discussing their available options, so it sounded like there was a chance they could look to bring in a free agent at some point in the near future.

Despite being a notable free agent, there really hasn’t been any reported interest in Johnson since free agency got underway several months ago.

Johnson was, unfortunately, involved drive by shooting back in March that took the life of a close friend who was sitting next to him in a car.

Johnson, 29, ran for 663 yards on 155 carries (4.3 YPC) to go along with 24 receptions for 151 yards receiving and two total touchdowns during the 2014 season. Pro Football Focus rated Johnson as the No. 46 running back out of 57 qualifying players
