Cardinals Place G Evan Mathis On I.R. & Sign OL Ulrick John Off Dolphins’ PS

The Arizona Cardinals announced Saturday that they’ve placed G Evan Mathis on injured reserve and signed G/T Ulrick John from the Dolphins’ practice squad.

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians indicated that Mathis’ ankle injury could be serious, so injured reserve was unfortunately, a possibility for him.

Mathis, 34, signed a one-year, $1,000,069 million contract with the Cardinals back in March. He contract included another $4.99 million available through bonuses and incentives.

This season, Mathis has appeared in four games for the Cardinals and is rated by Pro Football Focus as the No. 33 guard out of 71 qualifying players.

John, 24, is a former seventh-round pick by the Colts of the 2014 NFL Draft. He wound up on Indianapolis’ practice squad before being signed by the Dolphins in October of last year. Miami re-signed him as an exclusive-rights free agent this past offseason.

In 2016, John has appeared in two games for the Dolphins.
