Cardinals Place QB Carson Palmer On Reserve/Retired List

The Arizona Cardinals officially placed QB Carson Palmer on the reserve/retired list on Monday.

This move is a just a formality for the Cardinals, as Palmer announced his retirement from the NFL over a month ago.

By placing Palmer on the reserve/retired list, Arizona ensures that they own his rights if he wants to come out of retirement at some point.

Palmer, 38, is a former first-round pick of the Bengals back in 2003. He played seven years for Cincinnati before he was traded to the Raiders.

Oakland would later send him to the Cardinals and he went on spent another five seasons in Arizona.

Palmer was in the final year of his three-year, $43.5 million contract and set to make a base salary of $12.5 million for the 2017 season.

For his career, Palmer threw for 46,247 yards while completing 62.5 percent of his passes to go along with 294 touchdowns and 187 interceptions over the course of 14 seasons. He was a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
