Cardinals Plan To Pick Up LT D.J. Humphries’ Fifth-Year Option

According to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic, the Cardinals plans to exercised LT D.J. Humphries‘ fifth-year option for the 2019 season before the May 3 deadline.

The fifth-year option will run the Cardinals $9,625,000 for the 2019 season. It’s worth mentioning that the fifth-year option is only guaranteed for injury and won’t prevent the two parties from working on a long-term extension in the next year or so.

Humphries, 24, is a former first-round pick out of Florida by the Cardinals in the 2015 NFL Draft. He is entering the final year of his four-year, $8.912 rookie contract and is set to earn a base salary of $1,450,288 million for 2018.

The Cardinals placed him on the season-ending injured reserve due to a dislocated kneecap and MCL injury in November.

In 2017, Humphries appeared in five games for the Cardinals. According to Pro Football Focus, he played a total of 204 snaps last year before landing on injured reserve.
