Cardinals QB Carson Palmer Expected To Miss 8 Weeks With Broken Arm

Update:

Cardinals HC Bruce Arians announced after Sunday’s game that QB Carson Palmer suffered a broken arm and will miss eight weeks following surgery.

Arizona will move forward with Drew Stanton as their starting quarterback for the time being with Blaine Gabbert as their backup.

It would not be surprising to see Palmer placed on injured reserve in the coming days, as this is likely too much time to carry him on the active roster. The Cardinals and always designate him to return later on in the year if they’re still in contention at that point.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer exited Sunday’s game against the Rams with a left arm injury and has been ruled out for the game.

Palmers has been replaced by veteran backup Drew Stanton.

Palmer took a hit after throwing an interception during the second quarter of Sunday’s game and was taken to the locker room.

Palmer, 37, was in the third year of his four-year, $58.5 million contract and set to make a base salary of $6.35 million for the 2016 season when the Cardinals signed him to a one-year extension worth $24.35 million before the start of the season.

In 2017, Palmer has appeared in six games and thrown for 1,856 yards while completing 61.8 percent of his passes to go along with nine touchdowns and six interceptions. Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 15 quarterback out of 34 qualifying players.

We’ll have more regarding Palmer’s injury as the news is available.
