Cardinals QB Carson Palmer Believed To Have A Torn ACL

Update:

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that Cardinals QB Carson Palmer is believed to have a torn ACL.

  • Palmer will undergo further tests on Monday including an MRI to confirm the injury.

Cardinals QB Carson Palmer went down with a non-contact injury during the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game against the Rams.

  • The Cardinals have already announced that Palmer has a knee injury and is questionable to return.

Rams newly acquired S Mark Barron nearly sacked Palmer on a blitz, but it appeared as though Palmer’s knee gave out as he planted his foot.

After being helped to the sideline, a cart arrived to take him to the locker room. Palmer gave the fans a thumbs up, but this is obviously a very concerning situation for Arizona.

Palmer, 34, just signed a brand new three-year contract worth over $50 million in total and includes $20.5 million guaranteed, which will be paid out through the 2015 season.

Heading into today’s game, Palmer had thrown for 1,385 yards while completing 61.7 percent of his passes to go along with 11 touchdowns and just two interceptions over the course of five games.

Drew Stanton has filled in for Palmer this season, so figures to be the team’s starter for as long as Palmer is out.

We’ll have more updates as the news is available.
