Cardinals Release LB Marcus Benard To Make Room For John Abraham

Rand Getlin of Yahoo Sports reports that the Cardinals have released LB Marcus Benard on Tuesday to make room for veteran OLB John Abraham.

Abraham is returning to the team after he took a leave of absence to weigh his future.

Benard, 29, just re-signed wtth Cardinals after it appears as though Abraham was set to retire. Benard previously signed one-year contract with Arizona back in March, but was among the team’s final roster cuts a few weeks ago.

He spent the first three years of his career with the Browns before he later signed with the Cardinals back in October of last year. He appeared in 12 games last year and totaled 17 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble.
