Cardinals Release OLB Victor Butler

The Arizona Cardinals have released veteran OLB Victor Butler on Tuesday, according to Darren Urban.

Butler, 27, signed a contract with the Cardinals two weeks ago as they were looking to bolster their depth at outside linebacker after John Abraham left the team.

The Saints signed Butler to a two-year, $3 million contract that included $1.5 million guaranteed last season, but was unfortunately among the Saints’ final roster cuts a few weeks ago as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

Butler tore his ACL during offseason workouts last year and subsequently missed the entire 2013 season.

He spent the first four years of his career with the Cowboys after Dallas used a fourth-round pick on him during the 2009 draft.
