Cardinals Release TE Joseph Fauria, Promote RB Kerwynn Williams

The Arizona Cardinals announced Saturday that they’ve released TE Joseph Fauria and promoted RB Kerwynn Williams to their active roster, per Darren Urban.

The decision to call up Williams stems from the injury to Andre Ellington, who could be another few weeks with a PCL injury.

Fauria, 25, was unfortunately among the Lions’ final roster cuts this past weekend, as they trimmed their roster down to 53 players.

The Cardinals elected to sign him to a contract a few weeks ago, but it appears as though he was the next man to go in the event they needed a roster spot. There’s a chance he could be re-signed early next week, as teams tend to make some changes to their on Saturday and bring guys back once the game is over.

In 2014, Fauria appeared in seven games and caught six passes for 74 yards receiving and a touchdown for the Lions.
