Kent Somers of The Arizona Republic reports that the Cardinals will release C Lyle Sendlein at some point in the near future.
- Somers adds that Sendlein likely declined to accept a pay cut.
- According to Somers, the door is open for him to return, but he’ll test the open market first.
Sendlein, 30, was in the final year of his five-year, $16,250,000 contract that included $3,500,000 guaranteed. He would have made a base salary of $3 million for the 2015 season.
According to OverTheCap.com, releasing Sendlein will free up $3,150,000 in available cap space while creating $1,125,000 in dead money.
Pro Football Focus has him rated as the No. 40 center out of 41 qualifying players.
