Cardinals Rookie QB Logan Thomas Preparing To Start In Week 6

ESPN’s Ed Werder (via Louis Riddick) reports that Cardinals rookie QB Logan Thomas is going into this week preparing to start Sunday’s game against the Redskins.

Veteran Carson Palmer (shoulder) was able to throw the ball around on Tuesday, but HC Bruce Arians mentioned that Palmer could “possibly practice Thursday or Friday” depending on how his shoulder responds from throwing the ball this week.

Backup QB Drew Stanton unfortunately suffered a concussion during last weekend’s loss to the Broncos and it appears as though he won’t be cleared in time to suit up for Week 6’s game.

Thomas, 23, was a fourth-round selection of the Cardinals this year and offers plenty of arm strength to go along with great physical tools, but he struggled with accuracy and decision making during his time at Virginia Tech.

Last week, Thomas completed 1 of 8 attempts for 81 yards and a touchdown. He’ll need to be more consistent for Arizona to have any chance, but it will certainly be interesting to see what he can do if given the opportunity.
