Cardinals Rumors: Calais Campbell, Levi Brown, La’Rod Stephens-Howling

Calais Campbell & Levi Brown

ESPN’s John Clayton tweets that the Arizona Cardinals are $13 million over the current cap projection but mentions that they could easily rectify the situation by releasing OT Levi Brown and agreeing to a long-term deal with DE Calais Campbell.

Arizona placed their franchise tag on Campbell a few weeks ago which will cost them $10.6 million for the 2012. The team has already said that getting a long-term contract done with him is at the top of their priority list so there’s good chance that contract talks could accelerate in the coming days.

Brown has an $2.058 bas salary for the 2012 season plus a $6 million roster bonus that’s due on March 12th as well as a $250,000 workout bonus. He figures to be a cap causally unless a deal is reached very soon.

La’Rod Stephens-Howling

The Arizona Cardinals announced that they have placed restricted free agent tenders on RB La’Rod Stephens-Howling, CB Greg Toler, and S Rashad Johnson.

Stephens-Howling wound up receiving a second-round tender which would equate to a $1.927 million salary. Both Johnson Toler were given “original pick” tenders worth $1.26 million.

Reggie Walker

Arizona chose not to tender ILB Reggie Walker, who will now hit the open market.

There’s still a chance that he could return to the team next season would it be on a limited basis and most likely for a minimum contract.
